Today I thought I would share some of the pictures from my son's birthday and the AWESOME cake as my son called it LOL!!
The cake was super easy and it literally took me 2 hours to finish aside from the cooking time for the three 8 X 8 square cakes which I baked the night before and wrapped them really good in saran wrap. My son loved it and some of my family thought the cake was a table decoration at first LOL!!
Have a Happy New Year in case I don't get a chance to visit you all today.
The cake is layered using three 8 X 8 square cakes,I frosted the cake with the Hershey's frosting for easy icing. I then crushed Oreo's and Graham crackers in the food processor but you can also smash them in a plastic bag with a rolling pin. I used the Wilton icing which you can buy HERE for fast and easy cake grass piping along with the Wilton #233 Tip HERE. Having a cake turning table sure makes it easy to frost, you can buy one like mine HERE but not necessary at all, Leaf Green was the color by Wilton HERE for the frosting. You can also find all these items at Michael's and even use a 50% coupon per item which you can find HERE.
The day was very cold and the floors were wet due to the
weather so I wasn't able to put up the balloons and more decorations. I wanted to keep it simple in case it did rain.
My son still loved everything and had a blast!! At the end of that night I asked him if mom had made his birthday special
and he say "of course mom" and said his favorite part
was the cake, presents and having all the family over.
The sprits were painted using a black Sharpie. I also had labels of the name of each game icon for each treat which I got and printed from HERE.
The goodie bags were also free hand painted using the black Sharpie. The bowls contained candy to simulate some of the Minecraft items such as Diamonds, TNT, Red Stones, Coal, Gold and pretzels. I also got the Creeper and Steve box from HERE and I loved the look the grass gave the whole table which I bought HERE.
Table was ready along with the
BBQ for the Chef to begin:)
Menu: BBQ ribs per Birthday boy request, pulled BBQ pork sandwiches, mashed potatoes, Lime Cilantro Cole Slaw recipe HERE, baked Mac and cheese, BBQ corn on the cob, honey cornbread and fruit platter.
All the cousins singing Happy Birthday…
Blow out those candles birthday boy!!!
